Self Care for the On The Go Gal

Self Care for the “On-The-Go-Gal”

Finding balance is hard. Last year was full of so many amazing things but, it also broke me. I was so busy that I forgot to take care of my self. When fall hit, I was exhausted. I couldn’t fit into my pants from last year, and I was sick from November to mid-January.

I knew I needed to slow down. I needed to give my health the attention it deserves.

Making Decisions

I had been following my friend Madison on social media for a while. I noticed that she was killing it when it came to her health. She reached out to me at the perfect time. I didn’t want to join a gym because I’m traveling so much that it just wouldn’t work. But then Madison told me about Beach Body on Demand and I was sold. I’ll be honest, I avoided it forever. I had seen “Beach Body” stuff before and just assumed it was another “get skinny fast if you give us all your money” scam. But boy was I wrong.

Benefits Of Beach Body On Demand

A year of B.O.D. only cost $8 a month, or $99 for the whole year. Thats less than a gym membership. I paid about $300 for a six month membership at Vasa last year. Total rip off if you ask me. I mean, I paid $300 just to show up to a smelly gym and get no help of any sort. One of the hardest things about working out for me was that I didn’t know where to start. I had no idea what sort of work I needed to be doing to get the results I wanted.

But with Beach Body, I got a freaking community. I have personal trainers in my pocket. I have nutrition resources, meal prep tips, and all kinds of goodies available whenever I want them.  AND I have Autumn Calabrese, who is a straight up freaking life changer. Not only did I lose 9 pounds in that first month,  but every time my girl Autumn opens her mouth its like a motivational pep talk for every area of my life.

Over All Well Being

OK anyway, back to my point. I started taking care of my physical health back in September. And I feel so much better about myself since I started working out. I didn’t give 100% at first. I was traveling a lot and that made it hard still. But when January rolled around, I was ready to get really serious about my health. Not just my physical health but my emotional and mental health as well. That’s the thing about taking care of your body, it inspires you to improve yourself in every other aspect of well being as well.

So, I started journaling. Have you ever heard of that really awesome gal, Rachel Hollis? Well here is a link to her podcast that helped shaped my morning routine.

Here are the changes that I made in my life to start the day off right!

Nutrition

1.Eat a small meal: Yeah so did you know that your brain actually needs carbs to function at %100 ?

In fact, carbs are the only fuel your brain uses to function. The reason why breakfast is so important is because when you sleep,  you’re basically fasting and your metabolism needs food to get every part of you going!

So I usually have a piece of toast with some eggs or, I meal prep some breakfast burritos.

2. Drink some Energize! I don’t drink coffee or soda so this is my caffeine fix for the morning. BONUS: it’s also really tasty so it’s like a reward I get to enjoy before my work out. Kind of like when you promise yourself you can eat Chick-Fil-A if you work out really hard today. But this is better because I get to drink it before my work out. hehe. (Only not as good as Chick- Fil – A… Nothing is as good as Chick-Fil-A.)

Get Going

3. Write down my dreams, goals, and things I’m grateful for. Please please please listen to Rachel’s podcast episode #72!!!

4. Look over my schedule for the day/ maybe do some social media work. It honestly depends on how hard I’m procrastinating my work out. Lol. Just being real here. Just because I work out regularly doesn’t mean I always want to do it. Am I always grateful I did it though? YES!

5.  Work out! I’m currently doing the 80 Day Obsession Program by Autumn Calabrese with Beach Body On Demand.  One thing Autumn always says is, “Do it for yourself. Show up for yourself.” That’s why I get up and work out every day.  Yeah I want to lose some wight but more importantly I want to be healthy. It’s not about being skinny. It’s about being healthy. It’s about being happy. We all know that exercise is good for us.  Even if it’s just going for a walk, we need to make time to get our bodies going every day.

In the words of Autumn Calabrese (AKA my girl-crush and daily inspiration),

“It’s not supposed to be easy. If it was easy, everybody would do it. It’s hard, do it anyway. Show up for yourself every day.”

“Eating healthy and exercising is not a punishment. It’s a reward. “

Healthy living is good for you and your body loves it! Change the way you view healthy habits and really commit to being your best self. Do it for YOU!
