The story behind this session is one of those wild “meant to be” adventures that prove sometimes the best moments happen by accident. So, let’s start at the beginning…

How They Met

Shawntae and Andrew met in college — in the library — on her birthday! Later that night, he showed up to her birthday party and decided she was an absolute babe. They went on a few dates, then decided to just be friends… but Andrew wasn’t ready to give up that easily.

After seven months of friendship, holidays, schoolwork, and adventures, they gave love another shot. This time, it stuck — and soon after, they were engaged!

Our Unexpected Trip to Florida

Andrew spent his summer working in Florida while Shawntae was in Logan, Utah. The summer before, she had been in Haiti teaching English and caring for kids in an orphanage. She planned to return to Haiti with her sister (yep — that’s me!) and together we packed 300 pounds of donations for those sweet kiddos.

But… travel had other plans. We missed our connecting flight in Florida, bought another ticket, and — you guessed it — missed that one too (thanks to some confusing luggage rules 🙃). Thankfully, Andrew’s aunt was already at the airport and offered us a place to stay in Miami for a few days. Total blessing in disguise!

Since this was one of the few times Shawntae and Andrew would be together that summer, we decided it was the perfect time to do their Miami engagement session.

The Photoshoot

We shot at a lush botanical garden in Miami, and honestly — it was a dream. Palm trees, waterfalls, and tropical light surrounded us at every turn. These two were naturals in front of the camera — laughing, playing, and radiating pure joy.

The camera loved them, and every frame felt like a little piece of paradise.
